Q1: What is the difference between a building permit and a planning permit?
Planning permits deal with the development and use in principal covering such areas as aesthetics, type of building layout, landscaping, and must be obtained prior to the issue of any building permit.

The building permit must be consistent with any planning permit but covers the detail provision including structural integrity, fire safety and health amenity.

Q2: Who issues a building permit?
Building permits are issued by registered building surveyors.

Q3: How much does a building permit cost?
The cost varies depending on the size, complexity and location of the project. Please contact our office for a quote.  

Q4: What is an occupancy permit?
When we are satisfied that the building is fit to be used, complies with all regulations, and we have completed all our checks to ensure the construction complies with the requirements of the building permit, we then issue an occupancy permit.

Q5: Does all building work require a building permit?
A building permit is required for all new construction, all alterations and repairs that are structural, and all alterations that change the use of a building.
