A building permit is an official approval issued by a Building Surveyor that allows an owner builder or a contractor to proceed with a construction or remodelling project on your property. The purpose of the building permit is to confirm that the project plans comply with the Act and regulations, local standards for land use, zoning and construction.
A Building Permit is issued by a registered Building Surveyor; EGBP Building Surveyors and staff can assist you with this.
During the construction phase, a property is inspected to confirm that it conforms with the issued Building Permit. At completion a Final Certificate or Occupancy Permit will be issued. It is an offence to occupy a new dwelling without an occupancy permit being issued.
